Please complete the PRESENTATION PITCH form below to submit a panel presentation. Any speakers you propose, including yourself, will need to separately complete the SPEAKER PITCH form below to be considered as a possible speaker with your presentation pitch submission. If you don’t wish to be considered as a speaker and are just submitting an idea for a presentation, then no SPEAKER PITCH form completion is needed. If you are only submitting your interest to be considered as a speaker, and not submitting a presentation idea, then only complete the SPEAKER PITCH form. SESSION SELECTION Submitting your presentation or speaker pitch (together or separate) in no way guarantees selection or participation in any ANSWERS session or meeting. Panels and speakers are reviewed separately and in some instances your panel idea may be chosen but not your suggested speakers (or vice versa). The ALFN retains the right to edit or otherwise modify panel ideas and to select, add or remove speakers to any session of ANSWERS. Panels are judged in a blind peer review by the ALFN Conference Planning Committee and selected based on the merit and quality of a presentation idea, the wholeness of the pitch, and are judged based on how well a topic fits into a particular format and the overall educational line-up of the conference. SPEAKER SELECTION We are looking for the most dynamic, engaging and memorable speakers that will add value and heighten the ANSWERS experience. In most cases, panels are limited to three presenters so there is enough "air time" for each speaker participating. Our format generally has your back to your presentation and we do not seat our panelists at tables or behind lecterns. If applying to speak at ANSWERS, know that you will be asked to prepare your remarks, practice your presentation, and collaborate with your colleagues. Our session formats are informal; you will be seated on stools at the front of an open room and attendees are encouraged to participate and ask questions throughout. If your session is formatted for one hour, we ask that you develop content for the full hour and do not include time for formal Q&A at the end of your session--ANSWERS has refreshing 30 minute breaks outside the ballrooms where we ask that you take questions and continue the conversation with attendees over coffee and a light snack. ABOUT GENERAL SESSIONS
ANSWERS will have five general sessions in 2017 spread across three days. General sessions are one hour long each and should target the full body of ANSWERS' attendees. General sessions have one moderator and up to four panelists. We are looking for general sessions that fall into five main categories: foreclosure, litigation, bankruptcy, compliance, industry economics or scenarios for our mock trial. ABOUT BREAK-DOWN SESSIONS Break-Down Sessions are in-depth, practitioner-led sessions that drill down deep into a single issue, component or aspect of a topic related to a General Session. For example, ANSWERS may have a Litigation: Coast to Coast general session followed by a Break-Down Session focused on Litigation Tactics. Think practical, play-by-play, practitioner-led education that breaks down tough issues. No, we're not looking for anyone to have an actual breakdown at ANSWERS. ABOUT BREAK-IN SESSIONS With the changes in our industry, it's vital that members have access to tools and educators outside their existing practice areas to learn about the challenges and best practices for identifying, accessing and cultivating new revenue streams. Break-In sessions should be led by practitioners and focus on standing up a new practice area and/or accessing new markets. Suggested topics include practice areas like collections and commercial default or from an ownership perspective for women-, minority-, and veteran-owned firms. ABOUT BREAK-OUT SESSIONS True round table sessions that start with tough questions, task the audience with identifying solutions, and then engage the room in a lively dialogue where attendees walk away with new ideas and perspectives on challenging issues affecting practitioners industry-wide. Suggested topics include billing timelines, ethical issues, or management and operational challenges. ABOUT DISCUSSION DENS Short (think sitcom length - 22 minutes without commercial breaks), rapid fire discussions led by a single expert on vital topics like business continuity, operational efficiencies, emerging technologies, etc. With a living room setting in the foyer area, attendees can grab a coffee or refreshment between sessions and participate in a brief, introductory conversation with a topical expert. SPEAKER DISCOUNTS Individuals selected to speak at ANSWERS 2017 will receive a 20% discount off a full-priced ANSWERS registration. Coupon codes will be distributed upon speaker selection. Speakers will be responsible for all travel arrangements and expenses that are incurred. You will not receive any royalties, honoraria, reimbursement of expenses, or other compensation from ALFN in connection with the program. |
